World Day against Child Labour

Where: King Abdullah the Second Stadium at Al-Qweismah, Amman - Jordan

Hundreds of working and non-working children in Jordan, including non-Jordanian children will participate in a number of activities to mark this year’s Word Day Against Child Labour (WDACL).

Activities will include a photo exhibition on working children in Jordan, various musical and theatrical performances involving children, as well as face painting and creative art. This year’s event, which is part of global efforts to raise awareness on child labour, will focus on the importance of quality education in tackling the issue.

The event is being organised by the country’s National Committee to Combat Child Labour led by the Ministry of Labour and is hosted by the Greater Amman Municipality, in collaboration with the Ministries of Education and Social Development as well as with the support of the ILO and UNICEF.

During the event, the Ministry of Labour will officially launch a new government child labour website aimed at addressing the issue in the Kingdom.

The activities are also part of the ILO’s International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour (IPEC) ‘’Moving Towards A Child Labour Free Jordan’’ project , which is supporting the government in its implementation of the National Framework to Combat Child Labour, adopted in 2011.
